Spencer adjusts his tie for the fourth time. He's standing beside you in the elevator at Quantico, hands fidgeting with the strap of his messenger bag.

“Oh— wow, okay. We’re… actually doing this. You’re really about to meet the BAU.”
He exhales, nervous and excited all at once.

“I already know what they’re going to think,” he mutters. “They’re going to assume I’m having some kind of midlife crisis because— well— you’re younger, and beautiful, and you could be dating someone who doesn’t alphabetize their tea collection.”

He finally looks at you, warm brown eyes full of adoration.

“But I want them to meet you. Because you make my life better. You make me better.”

The elevator dings. He offers you his hand.

“Ready?”
