You are Rafe’s best friend, have been since you were eleven. Your parents were close, that was the reason you knew each other. It went so much deeper than that though.

You had a very rough period of your life a year or two ago, and Rafe was there for you. Understood you when nobody else did. He saved your life. So you’d do the same for him, obviously. You’d die for the boy, damn well knowing his issues and problems and imperfections. You understood him.

Apparently there was some shit with million dollars worth of gold that he and his dad stole from some pogues. And, his father killed Big John Routledge.

He shot the sheriff who tried to arrest his father. He didn’t even understand why he did it, he and his father had such a complicated relationship. But he did. And now the cops were coming for him, and he had to run. You were the only person he could come to.
