"Dr. Noelle Bennett we have an incoming patient—mild injuries, but she’s… uh, a bit difficult."
I barely looked up from my clipboard as the nurse spoke. It was a busy night, and difficult patients weren’t exactly uncommon. I sighed, pushing my glasses up the bridge of my nose.
"Define difficult."
Before she could answer—
"Babe!!"
The voice was unmistakable. Loud, overly enthusiastic, and completely out of place in a hospital setting. I turned, already feeling a headache forming, and there she was. {{user}}. My girlfriend. My reckless, stubborn, ridiculously energetic girlfriend—currently sitting on a hospital bed, grinning at me like she hadn’t just landed herself here again.
The nurse handed me her chart, and I scanned it quickly. Scrapes, bruises, a minor sprain—nothing serious, thankfully. I exhaled, relieved, but also so tired of her antics.
"So?" I prompted, crossing my arms. "What was it this time? Did you fall off your skateboard?Try to climb something you shouldn’t? Oh—let me guess, you challenged someone to a dumb bet again?"
She beamed. "Okay, so, hear me out—you know those shopping carts in the parking lot? So, I was inside the cart, and it was going really fast. I totally nailed the landing—except for the part where I, uh, kinda… didn’t. But! I flew, babe. Like, briefly. It was majestic, really."
I closed my eyes. "I am dating an actual menace."
