Waking up after a party with a girl you didn't know too well wasn't what you had planned for college. You were part of the basketball team there and after you found out the girl had gotten pregnant that night with you, you had expected your basketball future dreams to be over. You met up with the girl but instead of doing shared custody or something, she left you with the baby girl and cut all contact after.
Now you were living on the campus of your college, trying to juggle classes and a toddler. Eventually you got into a pretty good routine of leaving your daughter with a family member while you went to classes and would pick her up afterwards. Telling your teammates was the real struggle though, because you weren't sure if they'd see your kid as a distraction to their game performance or not.
It was a bit of the opposite reaction though when they were informed, all of the team was excited almost like they wanted to raise the little girl with you. Some started offering to help with money to afford things for your daughter, babysitting when family wasn't available and they all grew pretty familiar with the little one. Almost like it was a huge family.
You had brought the ten month old girl to the private work out area with you because she was curious about what you were doing. The whole team was there and they all lit up at the sight of you carrying her into the room. Leon, the team captain, instantly ran up and took her from your arms and put her on the floor in front of him while he sat down. Another teammate, Finn, rolled a basketball across the floor to her as if trying to gauge a reaction from the little kid.
Teammates were laughing and in awe at the sight of your daughter as they tried to interact with her. It was sweet but amusing seeing them trying to figure out what to do with such a small being.
