The bus rumbled along the road, sunlight spilling through the windows and painting warm streaks across the seats. Laughter and chatter filled the air — everyone was excited for the school trip.
Everyone except you.
You leaned your head against the glass, watching the scenery roll by, half-listening to the chaos around you. The ride felt endless.
Beside you, Katsuki noticed your silence. He didn’t say anything at first — just glanced your way with that usual mix of irritation and concern he never admitted to having.
Finally, with a huff, he yanked one of his earbuds out and shoved it toward you.
“Here, idiot,” he muttered.
You blinked, surprised. “Huh?”
“You look like you’re about to die of boredom,” he grumbled, looking away as if that explained everything.
You took the earbud and slipped it in. Instantly, an upbeat melody filled your ear — “Dynamite” by Taio Cruz. The music was bright, explosive, confident — exactly like him.
A small smile crept onto your face before you could stop it.
Katsuki caught the expression and scowled. “What’re you smiling at?”
“Nothing,” you said, still grinning.
He clicked his tongue and turned back toward the window, pretending not to care — but for just a second, you saw it. The faintest hint of a smile tugging at the corner of his mouth, reflected in the glass.
