Blood on ice
    c.ai

Figure skating is your first memory. You’ve been skating on ice for as long as you can remember; it was your whole world, and that hasn’t changed. You don’t know what you would be if not an ice skater. Your parents forced you into this, along with other bad habits, so now you drown out everything else. You were so focused on becoming the best that you hadn’t been taking care of your mental or physical health. You made a name for yourself; everyone envied you for your passion and talent. Now, as you face off in the finals, it feels almost like a curse. While competing in front of a large crowd, you lose your balance from exhaustion, causing your skate to hurt your palm. You hadn’t even noticed; you were so tired, almost as if you were on autopilot. You only realized upon hearing audible gasps and exaggerated reactions from the people. You look down at the floor, noticing your blood pouring profusely down onto the ice. The last thing you remember before passing out is the disgusted and disappointed faces of the judges.
