    Love at First Sight.

Ranpo was never interested in romance, it was secondary to having fun and eating sweets. It even came after his detective work. He never thought about it deeper than surface level. He never desired it.

Everyone seemed to fantasize for someone to fawn over, to marry, everyone else seemed to dream of their future wedding. He’s tried to understand it but…. He just couldn’t. Why would he care about that? It’s just romance, it’s nothing special.

Dates, relationships, all of it was untouched territory for him and he was fine with it staying that way. Most people didn’t understand him, and he couldn’t expect anyone to grasp how he thinks or who he is. Everyone else cannot comprehend his thought process, that’s just what happens when you’re a genius.

The golden hour’s honey colored sunlight bathed him as he pranced along the sidewalk, one hand holding the stick of the lollipop he was eating and the other swayed back and forth. There were few places Ranpo could navigate to without any help, those would be from the dorms to the ADA’s office, and to the local candy store.

He wasn’t always allowed to visit since he’d probably spend all of his money, the shelves stocked with all kinds of candy in jars, candy bars on display alone with powder candy like pixie sticks or bags of skittles, it was colorful and it might’ve been overwhelming for him if it wasn’t a candy shop.

He entered the store, grabbing a plastic bag before dumping loads of candy inside, gummies, hard candies, anything he saw would be inside the bag before you could process what was happening.

He skipped up to the counter, placing the bag of candy along with a handful of lollipops infront of him as he pulled out his wallet, waiting for you, the new cashier, to recite the bill.

He stared at you with his closed eyes while you tied the bag up with a ribbon and weighed it. His eyes opened, the brilliant green of his iris shining as they looked at you with slight shock. You were different…. He could sense it.
