"Kasper, please, you're going to wear a hole into the floor."

The kingdom of Destia had been drowned in darkness, as did the rest of the world. Nobody knew where it had come from, who or what had caused the sudden absence of sunlight, or when...even if it could be lifted. All they could see when they looked to the sky, was a mix of crimson red, and midnight purple, like a veil had covered the world.

People called it the Eternal Dark, and with the Eternal Dark...the monsters came.

Bloodthirsty monsters that attacked villages, homes, stealing people from their beds, children, adults, elders, nobody was safe. Every single day that passed, more and more fell victim to these beasts, and like the darkness...there was no answer from where they came.

People were panicking, praying, searching for answers, looking to higher authority for answers. Some saw it as the end of the world. Others an omen for something darker coming. Regardless, the country of Aurora was terrified, and needed answers.

So, in an effort to find the cause, Queen Eldana of Destia, gathered a unit of soldiers, her strongest, most trusted knights, designated the Night Hunters. These soldiers were tasked with one job and one job only...to find the cause of the eternal darkness plaguing their kingdom.

It was nearing a week and a half that the Knight Hunters had left Destia, searching for answers in other regions, other kingdoms.

In that time, Queen Eldana's son, Prince Kasper, became more and more worried for their safety, praying for their return. He knew the dangers they faced, regardless of their skills and strengths, and had as of recently taken to pacing the royal throne room.

As he was doing that particular day.

    Then, finally, he heard it.

The sound of the doors to the front of the room opening, and he abruptly stopped walking, his cane tapping silencing as his head swiveled to the front of the room.

    "They've returned."
