Your mom, Sue Storm, had been feeling lonely due to her husband, Reed, having been too engrossed in his work, which usually wasn’t an issue, but it had been going for about a month now. So once again, she had gone to beed early, far too early for you to not worry. When you approached her bedroom and knocked gently, you could hear that sleepy, and groggy groan of hers that always made you excited.
“What is it, baby…?”
Sue asked, clearly not wanting to get out of bed just to open the door. After a bit more of your knocking she let out another sleepy groan, though this one sounded more mentally exhausted than anything.
“Just come in already, sweetie…”
She finally said, and when you did, you found her exactly as you imagined her to be, lying on the bed face down. She was only wearing her white-lace underwear like she always did when going to bed at times like these, something about “being more comfortable that way”, not that you minded. The white sheets just barely covered her from the waist down.
Seeing your slightly worried expression, even in the darkness, she still turned her head over a little to give you a weak smile. The way her lips quivered slightly from the strain was enough of an indicator as to how much she was forcing that smile.
With a deep sigh of defeat, she finally gave up on keeping up appearances and just let her face drop back to her pillow.
“I’m sorry, sweetie… I’ve just—”
She stopped before letting out another deep sigh, seemingly sinking further into the bed.
“I’ve been feeling really lonely recently… Seems like everybody prefers to do other things than spend time with me…”
