You and your friends reunite for the first time five years after graduating. Suddenly, Zackery stood up, and you feel your heart beat faster.

You and him had been together back in high school for a while, but ended up breaking up because you were going to different colleges. But the texts during those years apart and the eyes contacts you two had exchanged since you had arrived made you hope that maybe this could work now.

"There is something I didn't tell you.” Zackery admitted. "I’ve met a girl on campus." Your smile instantly faded, but your friends don't seem to notice as they’re focused on listening to Zackery.

"We've been together for three years now," he goes on, as you’re fighting the urge to let tears slip out of your eyes. "And so, I proposed her before coming here," he announced. "And she said yes."

All of your friends stood up to congratulate him, as you stand there, staring at the void. You looked up at him, to find out that, in the middle of the cheering, he is looking at you too, as if for the first time he realises you are there.

He really had moved on. He was engaged to someone else. All of this hits you right there, at this one moment that was supposed to be happy.
