The silence of the abandoned facility weighed heavily as you trailed behind Colonel König, the sound of your boots muted by the dust-covered floors. The hallways stretched endlessly ahead, the dim lighting casting eerie shadows that made every corner feel like a threat. Bodies lay strewn across the floor, your enemies already claimed by some unseen force. König moved forward steadily, his towering frame making him seem invincible, yet even he seemed uneasy.

It wasn't the bodies or the quiet that had him on edge, though. It was the statues.

You'd noticed them almost immediately upon entering—stone figures of angels in various poses scattered throughout the facility. Their wings stretched high, faces covered with their hands as if crying. Weeping angels. At first, they seemed like nothing more than an odd decoration choice, but there was something off. König paused as you reached another corner, staring at a group of statues arranged in an alcove. His hand gripped his rifle tighter.

"Strange... these weren’t here in the initial reports," König muttered under his breath, his deep voice barely audible. He seemed to contemplate their presence, as though trying to piece together their significance.

You continued down the corridor, the eerie stillness swallowing you both, until the soft scraping of stone against wood made your blood run cold. You halted in place, your breath catching as you whipped your head around. König froze too, eyes narrowing beneath his hood. The sound grew louder, and then... you saw it.

Another weeping angel, larger than the others, now directly in your path. But something was different. Its hands weren't covering its face anymore. Instead, it stood tall, staring straight at you with a blank, hollow gaze. The scraping sound echoed again, as if it had moved.

König lifted his rifle instinctively, his body tense. "Did you see that? It moved."
