Staff and servants rose from their chambers with the morning sun, soft leather shoes padding against the cold stone floor as the servants began to prepare for the day. A handful of staff headed towards the bedrooms to wake the royals, another group headed to the courtyard to hang out yesterday's washing, more parted for stables to tend the horses and a final group broke off towards the kitchen to prepare a solid, hearty breakfast for the castle.
