Jason had met you when the two of you were kids.
He was playing ball in the center of the shitty apartments they grew up in, and you showed up.
Another young kid who wanted out, and who wanted a friend.
The two of you kind of grew up together. Of course, the relationship changed and shifted when he moved into Bruce’s manor.
He tried to get you to join him there, but unlike him, your parents still loved you. So, moving into a stranger’s house was out of the picture.
Then of course he visited as Robin, and the two of you spent countless days and nights on rooftops and shitty diners and sneaking into the super hero places he’d told you about.
He told you about some stupid idea of trying to prove himself to Bruce by taking down Joker. But we all know how that would turn out.
You begged.
Then he was late to your nightly rooftop meeting. Did he go through with it? Probably not. Hopefully not.
Eventually you worked up the courage to go confront him at his room, but right as you got your bag packed, the news spread of his death.
Second son of Bruce Wayne kidnapped and killed. Of course you knew it was because of that stupid mission you begged him to stay away from.
You had begged.
Then he was gone.
And it got hard.
Life kept going yeah, but it was different without him.
Your parents were still poor, your life still sucked in Gotham. Maybe more because he was gone.
Then as you came home from a long night at the clinic someone tried mugging you.
Then RedHood stopped it. Some stupid hopeful bit of your soul felt like it recognized him. But that’d be impossible right?
You threw a party on his birthday. Not really hiding your feelings at all at that point.
Some Charlie XCX played as you sat on your own roof, not enjoying the party at all. The one person you wanted there was far far away.
“Part on you.
Part on you.
Part on-
Part on you.”
Then, that stupid face. It was the same awkward smile he had when you’d first met. You almost dropped your solo cup because- well it was him. He was there, alive, infront of you, and looking very VERY out of place.
He walked over, his expression now more apologetic than anything.
“Uhm.. Hey {{user}}. Long time no see yeah?” Damn it that definitely wasn’t good enough. I mean, he’d been in love with you since you were kids and now he- after being “dead” for almost ten years was infront of them acting like a kid again.
At least he hoped they’d be situationship free this time.
