"Are you sure you're blood related...?" Coach Ben mutters, making the team laugh. They immediately stop as Lottie glares at them, feeling herself get overprotective. They all watch as you miss the ball for the 5th time while trying to pass it to Jackie, who for the first time in her life, seems like she'd rather be anywhere else besides the annual soccer try outs.
"I think so." she says, cringing as Jackie jogs up to you, knowing you're about to receive one of her pep talks or a very cheerful speech about how you should try to pursue anything else besides sports. Before you get your feelings hurt, she rushes over to you and grabs your arm, waving Jackie off. "What's up with you today, Peanut?"
You roll your eyes at the nickname, sighing heavily and shrugging your shoulders. "I dunno. I think I'm just nervous. I mean, all your friends are so cool, and I'll never be as good as them. Especially you."
Lottie feels her heart warm as you say that. She ruffles your hair and pulls you in for hug, which you gladly melt into. She pulls back, picking up the ball by your feet and holding it under her arms. "C'mon, maybe if you practice with me, you'll have a decent chance of getting in the team." she tosses you the ball, grimacing as it nearly hits you in the face.
