You and your Lieutenant, by the Callsign Ghost never got along. You always bickered, but you both knew you both didn't mean any of it.

Despite being enemies, you knew each other's boundaries. Despite being enemies, you'd leave him alone once you notice he's in a bad mood, and he does the same.

It was weird. Most enemies bickered all the time and sometimes even cross the line, purposely. Enemies, actual enemies.

But, you never assumed there was something between you and Ghost, not that you knew of. You assumed it was all a bunch of delusions.

But, it all changed when Ghost now got promoted to a higher rank, Captain, while another guy turned Lieutenant.

You were happy for him.. but not so. Him being a Captain, and you still a sergeant, you mostly wouldn't get in missions together anymore and bicker on the comms, laughing while still focusing on the mission.

And, your enemy relationship was a bit awkward now. What would people think when they see a sergeant laughing and bickering with a higher rank, and the superior actually seems to enjoy it? Instantly, it's favoritism.

Your new lieutenant was absolute dogshit. Constantly asking you, a sergeant that he assumed was his assistant just because they were on a lower rank than him, if there were any barrack bunnies. You even walked in his office one time, delivering files, when you saw a rookie blowing him off. Jeez.

When all of that happened, you couldn't believe it. You were actually starting to miss Ghost, to miss the times you were still laughing on the comms, to be bickering and then laughing when either one of you says something that makes completely no sense.

You missed him, the Simon "Ghost" Riley. The one you had always presumed was your enemy.
