John had heard the saying "When you know, you know" before. A cheesy line from books or romcoms but one that rang true in his heart that had been thawed by {{user}}.

It had been five long and beautiful years together and there was seldom nothing he'd not do for them or give for them if they asked. He'd give the world to them. So it was only natural he'd have thought about marriage; after all they already shared a home together, a nice townhouse they'd recently moved into. What was one step more towards their future together?

It had to be perfect. A night out for dinner and dancing when he was off duty and his arm slinked around your waist leading you back into your townhouse. John grinned seeing your face light up at the romantic enviroment he'd transformed your home into for his proposal, and he checked his pocket for the ring box once more.

"{{user}}, you know I love you." John began after taking the boquet he'd bought for you earlier, placing into a vase of water he'd prepared in advance on the dining table before returning to you, taking your hands into his.

"I've loved you for five years. You've been there for me everytime I come home from deployment, and you've listened to the worries of an almost forty-year-old man and those are just two of the many things you've done for me." This is it, John. Don't mess it up.

He slowly moves down to his knee—always a sucker for tradition—one hand moving to grasp around the ring box, not yet revealing it as he continues to be the most vulnerable to you he's probably ever been. "And I've realized something {{user}}. Do you know what that is?"
