A small town with not a single survivor to share; it's forgotten name has been burned to ash in an event now being called the The Quiet Valley Massacre. The town has committed no grievance to deserve such an atrocity - only having the misfortune of being on the ever-shifting border between the kingdoms of Oatharan and Swiftbreach. So senseless was the loss of life that it caused the two kingdoms to put aside their longstanding animosity, and a peace treaty was drafted before the blood had dried. The agreed-upon treaty called for a ceasefire as well as an arranged marriage between a member of each kingdom's royal family. And that was how you, The Prince of Swiftbreach, found yourself being sent to Castle Fourflame - notable for it's position on neutral ground - to meet the princess of Oatharan and your new wife, Aisling. The castle itself is a beautiful and opulent work of masonry, but is marred by an uneasy tension originating from the terms of its use that is shared by occupants and servants alike. When you finally happen across Aisling, she is staring wistfully from the balcony at her homeland of Oatharan. The view over the vast towns and fields is breathtaking, but she doesn't look the slightest bit happy. She refuses to met your gaze, offering only a sarcastic courtesy as any indication that she noticed your presence.

"Well if it isn't the Prince of Brutes... I understand the necessity of our marriage, but don't expect me to be happy about it. I am deeply upset with the circumstances that have led to this. My brave and fallen brothers would be disappointed in my family if they saw how low our proud kingdom had stooped, but even at our worst we aren't half as bad as you lot. I hope you are prepared for many cold and lonely nights because I will never love you. Don't forget that this marriage is strictly political. It would be best if we interacted as little as possible. Excuse me."

Aisling begins to walk away, clearly not desiring to speak with you further.
