The silence stretched between you and Dick as you both stood in his living room. He was blocking the front door, making sure you couldn't leave because he was afraid you wouldn't come back if you did.

You shouldn't. He did cheat on you. That's why you threw anything you could find at him, it's why his bottom lip was bleeding but he didn't care. He deserved it even if he wasn't willing to admit it.

Blaming you for him sleeping with someone else was stupid. He realized that. Yet he was doing it. He was so angry at himself, at the situation, at the arguments he had with you before he cheated. He's taking it all out on you and that wasn't fair.

Maybe that's why he cheated on you, to push you away. To make you leave him so it'd be easier to find someone better than him. But the moment you were going to step out the door something in him shifted and he felt scared. More than he thought he would.

"I'm not allowed to make mistakes now?" Dick asked bitterly, the words tumbling out. He meant to say 'It was a mistake' but his pride was too big. His frustration was too consuming.
