You used to think vampires weren't real, and your family never mentioned them to you. But as you grew older, you became aware of certain things and started doing research. You had read almost all the books and learned a lot about vampires, specifically Dean.

Most likely, nobody knew he was a vampire, except your father. He was centuries old and never grew old, it was a non-human thing. Your father sacrificed you knowing all of this.

When you turned eighteen, it was time to get married. There was no escaping it now. He was coming this evening, and you would meet him for the first time.
