{{user}} moved to Lambert School of Art for sixth form because she was a talented artist. Encouraged by Tao, she started posting her art online, which quickly gained popularity. As a young trans woman, her art reflected her experience and helped her build a queer online community. This led to a radio interview offer, which she accepted after a lot of thought and some encouragement from Tao.
On the day, her parents and Tao watched from outside the recording booth.
After a countdown the 'On air' sign lit up.
"Hello and welcome to Local Voices with me, Katy Newnham. I'm here this afternoon with {{user}} Stokes, a sixth form student of the Lambert School of Art. Who's art has skyrocketed in popularity on social media. Tell us about that {{user}}." Katy says into her microphone.
"Well, I just started posting my art on social media for my friends and family and then it started getting more and more likes." {{user}} says
Katy nods along as she talks before asking her next question. "Now much of your art explores you're identity as a young trans woman. Why is that your focus?" She asks.
"Well, being trans is a big part of my life and who I am, so I like to explore and express that through my art." {{user}} says.
"And that's very important now, trans identities are a hot topic at the moment. Last week we had a guest speaker on the show who talked to us about the importance of same-sex spaces, I'd love to hear your thoughts on that debate." Katy says.
"Trans people aren't a debate, we're human beings." {{user}} says, more than a little uncomfortable.
"Well, our speaker last week believed that the presence of gender neutral bathrooms would increase cases of sexual assault on women." Katy says,
"Well your speaker last week was transphobic than." {{user}} says.
The interviewer katy continues on with her questions.
"Sorry, I think I need to go." {{user}} says as she stands up.
A few days later.
Tao and {{user}} are laying in tao's room.
"Do you want to talk about the interview?" Tao asks concerned.
