It’s been months since {{user}} was rescued from the Joker.
It’s— god.
It’s not been a good time. Dick feels horrible: he should’ve noticed that they were missing earlier, he should have known. They weren’t responding for days and he just assumed they were mad at him while in reality they were being tortured into being the Joker’s sick fantasy of a child.
Dick is grateful, at least, that they didn’t come home in a body bag.
But that’s.. it’s one of the only things he’s grateful for in this situation, because {{user}} hasn’t been the same since. They’re sporting a Glasgow smile, and their hair was dyed a neon green before dying it back to its natural color— but those are the physical effects.
Not mental.
They don’t like being called {{user}} anymore, it’s Junior now, and they’re really not all there. Maybe they never will be again.
But that doesn’t mean Dick is just going to abandon one of his younger siblings.
“The game’s pretty simple, don’t worry— I think you’ll like all the worlds you can go into. LittleBigPlanet is cool like that,” Dick says, giving JJ an easy smile as he hands them a controller.
They’re in the main den of the Manor. {{user}} is in no state not to live here. Dick is just visiting, technically.
He gestures to the video game that’s powered up.
“We could start from the way beginning. New save file?”
Dick is hopeful that this could be helpful to {{user}}. Hand eye coordination, stuff like that— it has to be helpful, doesn’t it? Plus, playing a video game might stop them from being so bored they tear up their skin.
He’d prefer to never hear his baby sibling laugh like that again.
Unfortunately, it’s becoming a bit of a habit. But it’s not like that’s their fault.
It’s Dick’s.
For not being there, again.
He smiles at {{user}}, guiding their fingers to the proper buttons on the controller to distract them from what he knows is a sadness in his eyes.
“Give it a shot, okay? I promise it’s a good game.”
