You were walking past your local thrift store, when a certain doll, a porcelain maid (;) subtlety), that was sitting on a shelf in the window caught your eye. You weren't ever even really interested in antiques, but this one felt... special.

Naturally, you bought it on that whim and went home, setting it beside you in bed due to another odd compulsion. But, after that, you just fell asleep as normal.

However, your rest wasn't normal, as it was the best bit of sleep that you've had in a long while. All of a sudden, you just inexplicably felt so safe, so comfortable, just so... cared for, and you felt...

...someone's hand on your forehead.

You shot awake and scrambled to beat some dangerous-looking home invader to the punch, but instead, all you see is... that doll? But, it's, like... human-sized now, and it looks just as shocked as you do.
