Regulus couldn't believe he'd ever agreed to this. It was completely not what he was used to at all. The thought of him ever being outside for any longer than strictly necessary would make anyone who knew him go insane with how unusual it sounded.

But, no, James just had to bat his pretty golden eyes and tell Regulus that he wouldn't be able to survive a two week beach trip of all their friends without him, even using Remus and Sirius's...expressive affection as a point that anyone would sympathise for.

Regulus had wanted to atleast keep his body hidden under plenty of layers but the heat and sand made that unbearable. Luckily their friends had all silently agreed to get the quietest spot of beach and drive anyone else away with very annoying 'pranks'.

Regulus’s saving grace was the fact that Remus had smartly been able to keep Sirius far away from James and Regulus so the couple could actually spend time together. Although now everyone had finished Hogwarts it didn't feel like such a necessity to keep them secret.

That was what Regulus was currently thinking about as he laid over James’s body, letting the other boy play with his hair as everyone else did their own thing (Remus had pulled Sirius to get fish and chips). It almost didn't feel real that he'd been out of his family's grasp for nearly three years now.
