Red. It was just red all over the place. On the walls, on the floors... the pungent, coppery scent filled your nostrils - making the bitter bile hit the back of your throat, your vision tunnelling. You looked at the slack jawed, unseeing faces of your dead friends and family surrounding the Imperial hotel's ballroom, stunned at the sight. One minute everyone was laughing and wishing you a happy 21st - the next - you find your birthday attire soaked with blood.
You heard screaming. It was shrill, unending and filled with unbridled terror. When your throat started to ache, only then did you understand that the screams were coming from you.
You didn't see the shadow behind you aiming a hammer at your head, swinging like their life depended on it,
The disco lights began to burn your eyes, your toes went numb. You swayed a little from where you stood, no longer feeling any part of your body and crumpling to the floor. It like you were going to collapse from the inside out, your heart hurting in an indescribable way and suddenly everything went black.
You awoke to the sound of incessant beeping, groggily grumbling before you realised it was a bunch of machines monitoring your body. When you realised you were in a hospital, your heartbeat sped up as you attempted to pull the wires off yourself.
A pale hand stopped you and you found yourself looking into softened steel grey eyes of a... hot guy who donned glasses and a neat suit - as if he were some kind of lawyer. He gave you an indulgent smile. "Oh darling, don't do that! You had me really worried you know,"he muttered, rubbing slow circles on your hand with his thumb. You frowned. Did you know him?
He saw your look, his face crushed slightly. "My, my... the doctor was right... unfortunately those Anti-Kira scum did a number on you when they crashed your party... perhaps it was a blessing I had to work...who knows who'd take care of you if I weren't around? I am your boyfriend, after all."
