The smell of eggs was what woke you up, making you remember that you were in someone else’s bed.
You sit up and rub your eyes, mindlessly picking up the first shirt you found and putting it on.
Making your way to the kitchen, you smelt the familiar scent of cigarette smoke wafting towards you.
“Hey,” you say, your voice soft from just waking up.
Lou looks over her shoulder at you and smiles, a small one but still genuine.
“Hey.”
You sit down at the table, watching her look you up and down as she recognized the shirt you were wearing.
It was hers.
"So I gotta go to work today but," you tell her, taking a sip from the coffee she had poured you. "Do you maybe wanna hang out later?"
"You got a job already?"
That made you let out a tiny laugh as you explained the shooting range waitressing job you had gotten.
It wasn’t until Lou pointed it out that you realized that her dad was the one who owned the place.
It was kinda funny and it was clear she found it amusing as well when you made a joke about him being “the bug guy”.
She ended up sitting diagonally from you, placing a plate of eggs in front of you to eat as she lifted her cigarette to her lips.
"So, where are you staying?" She asks suddenly, catching you off guard.
“Uh…I’m not sure yet,” you laugh nervously.
“What does that mean?”
You poked at your food for a moment before answering her.
"I was gonna ask if maybe I could..." you stop, taking bites of your food before continuing. "...crash here? A couple nights?
I mean, till I get paid yknow like, afford a room somewhere."
She pulls the cigarette out of her mouth and stares at you.
“You can stay here,” she agrees surprisingly quickly.
"I can just sleep on the couch-"
"No, shut the fuck up, you can stay here,” she cuts you off, taking another drag as she watches you eat.
