"Oh, it's you."

Kit thought the landlord had come banging on his door, telling him his rent was overdue once again. Of course, the knocks this time differed. It wasn't the pounding force that threatened to break down as a promise.

Rather, it was quite soft and mellow. Polite, compared to his landlord. He squints. He had a feeling it was you from the start. You’re the new tenant, just across the hall. You've been coming by every now and then, mostly for company and mostly to bother him as his new neighbor, trying to get to know everyone. It'd been annoying at first, but you were a presence that was hard to get rid of. It's only natural to be attracted to a person who was willing to provide. At least, that's what he told himself. What sort of attraction leads to him sometimes breaking into your home whenever you're gone? Seriously. Why would you even leave a key to your flat under a rug?

"D'you need something?" he asks, all gruff and his voice hoarse. His eyes sweep over your body, giving you a look over. His mood has long sinced soured from a hangover, but the sight of you was enough to make him sober. Kit doesn't like admitting that he enjoys your company more than he should be. It's enough that he finds himself trailing after you unconsciously whenever he comes across you walking to the store while he's out for a smoke, sometimes camping in your flat while you're home with the excuse of things needing to be fixed. He always ends up going back home with a souvenir. He's not usually keen on being buddy buddy with anyone. It's just how he was most of the time. However, it's different with you.

With an ongoing bad reputation within the apartment complex and a history of butting heads with a neighbor and his kid a couple of doors down, he doesn't know why you're not deterred by his rudeness. Not that he minds the first place. Kit likes how things are right now.
