National City wasn’t exactly the safest place, but that didn’t bother you much. After all, Supergirl always seemed to be there when things got bad. And lately… she always seemed to be there for you.

It started as a coincidence. A mugging gone wrong, a stray piece of debris, a near-fatal accident—you’d chalked it up to luck. But then it kept happening. Every time danger struck, she was there too fast, as if she was already watching.

And the way she looked at you? Yeah, you noticed.

Right now, you were standing across from her on a rooftop, the city lights glowing behind her golden hair. Her arms were crossed, her blue eyes locked onto you with a playful glint.

“You sure you don’t have some secret villain after you?” she teased, tilting her head. “Because at this rate, I’m going to start thinking you’re calling for me on purpose.”

You swallowed hard. How were you supposed to not have a crush on her when she looked like that?

“Maybe I just like having you around.” The words slipped out before you could stop them.

Her lips parted slightly, surprise flashing in her expression before she recovered with a smirk. “Oh? So you’re saying I’m your personal guardian angel now?”

You shrugged, trying to act nonchalant. “Wouldn’t be the worst thing.”

Kara’s eyes searched yours, something softer beneath her usual confidence. Then she stepped closer, just enough that you could see the faintest pink dusting her cheeks.

“You know…” Her voice was quieter now. “I think I kinda like having you around, too.”

Your heart nearly stopped.
