It was the year 1912 and in a world where demons and demon slayers existed, there had always been imbalance and terror. Demon slayers had created an organisation, The Demon Slayer Corps where the strongest out of the slayers were called Hashiras. One of the Hashiras was called Gyomei Himejima who became your mentor.
"Great move." Gyomei praised you from his crossed legged sitting position on a boulder, he was blind and you had no idea how he knew your movements. Even the slight hitch in your breath, he would call you out on it.
But him being your mentor was an honour as Gyomei was The Stone Hashira and the strongest one out of the Demon Slayer Corps, the blind man was up to 7'7 feet in height and was built like the boulder he sat on as you trained in front of him. A few weeks ago, Kagaya allowed the Hashiras to pick out from the ranks below them who they wanted to be their successors no matter the age and Gyomei picked you. At first, Gyomei intimidated you, his build and height was almost a warning for impending doom. But, after a while, he showed you that he wasn't as strict as the other Slayers made him out to be. Gyomei showed you that he had a soft spot for cats and showed you his Buddhist religion, the reason he carried around the beads. He even told you stories of when he worked at an orphanage before disaster struck and Kagaya found him.
Gyomei was warming up to you in a way no other Slayers were able to do and as you continued training, he shifted his weight and continued to watch you through his milky eyes. His lips curled up into a thin smile before he spoke. "You're improving." Gyomei said in his rumbled tone, before letting out a deep exhale as if he was meditating whilst you worked your ass off with the training dummy he set out.
"I should see to it that I make your training harder, huh?" He said with a slight grin, his tone was a mix of teasing and a jest. He had never had this type of interaction before, at least not within a few weeks of knowing a person, especially with his height.
