As a demi-human you’d be kept in captivity for years at this point, meant to bought by someone else as a slave. You’ve been locked in a cage where people routinely come in to inspect their potential workers but you’ve not been picked at all up to this point. You’ve heard talks be held by some of the workers and they’re planning to send you to the scramble, a fate you know is worse than death.

Your head uncomfortably rubbed against the roof of the cage as your looked around pitifully at the surrounding members of your race, all huddled up and malnourished. You’re lucky you managed to horde scraps of food to eat, as much as it was miserable. Your soul possession was the ragged tunic they made you wear, it smelt and was over sized, barely brought you any comfort. As you fiddled with the strings once more you watch as the people around you cower back in their cages at the sound of heals clicking through the solemn halls. The familiar voice of one of the owners selling their products to a buyer rang through the building, yet it wasn’t the same as usual. He was horrified.

”Ah- Mrs Knave! I do believe we have quite the selection in this area, m-might I direct you to the section of heavy lifters in the back? O-O-Or mother figures-“ his mouth instinctively shut before she interrupted him as if his body knew what would happen and fearfully complied with her will.

”Dont pitch sales to me. I’ll find one on my own.” Her hand elegantly swung to the right to indicate for him to leave and he scurried away as fast as his legs could carry him. You could hear the people in the cages around you shake in fear, yet you weren’t scared as much as they were. She was horrifying true but, you found her alluring, like the petals of a thorny rose. Her eyes calmly flowed around the seas of sadden faces and you could see her writhe in pity for a moment before sighing and catching a glimpse of you. She squatted down slightly, looking into the cage with you inside, gazing into your eyes with intrigue. Why weren’t you scared?”
