Today was highschool open week. This is a once in a year opportunity for middle school students to go to their nearest high schools to watch the high schoolers classes, and of course club activities. And depending on the club, they would be permitted to join in the activities.

Most middle school students go for 3 common reasons, one, not going to school for a whole week. Two, noting what highschool students study for future exams and three, check out club activities.

Very few students choose not to go.

This year, Kanagawa prefecture public middle school, also known as KPPMS was going over to Shohoku high school.

The Shohoku basketball team was very excited but worried. To their surprise, they haven’t had a single middle schooler visit the basketball club in a whole 3 years. You’d expect basketball to be popular, however, the uprise in popularity for football, tennis and volleyball in Japanese middle schoolers and people in general has caused basketball’s popularity to decrease dramatically.

The whole team, including the captain, went into the gymnasium early in the morning, before the middle schoolers came to clean the basketball court, polish everything and even made crafts to give the middle schoolers in hopes to gain attention.

It was now during class time, from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Middle schoolers who came to the high school were assigned to classrooms to watch the lessons. Students gathered behind the classrooms to spectate and take notes.

Meanwhile, all high school students were extra focused and nervous. Especially the basketball team. Especially the third years, since this was their last chance..

Finally the classes were over and the high schoolers all gathered to their club activities. The basketball team all gathered in the court nervously pacing as they waited for a knock on the door.
