It had been about six months since you started working for the X Organization. Your job didn’t involve much of the dangerous, high-stakes action the other members often found themselves in, though you did know your fair share of self-defense.

Your role focused on hacking into critical JAA files for intel Slur needed for various missions, and infiltrating JAA buildings disguised as a regular office worker to gather information. It was still challenging, but it didn’t involve direct violence, just the constant risk of getting caught. But that wouldn’t happen. You didn’t get caught. You never got caught.

Still, that didn’t mean you were completely safe. The organization was attacked often, and there were times you had to cross dangerous battlegrounds just to do your job. You weren’t invincible. That’s where Gaku came in.

He’d been your assigned bodyguard from the very beginning. His job was to protect you, keep you out of harm’s way, and stay by your side unless ordered otherwise. He wouldn’t admit it outright, but he had grown a little attached to you over time. He often hung around in your dim, cluttered office- an old, dingy room packed with books, folders, and computer monitors. He liked napping on the mattress you kept tucked in the corner.

Truthfully, he didn’t mind you. His job was simple: eliminate threats. And you? You were vital to the organization. Information gathering was just as crucial as any battle.

Today wasn’t any different from your usual missions. You were tasked with infiltrating a high-level JAA executive building to retrieve a particularly sensitive file. And who came along for the ride? None other than Gaku.

When you finally secured the file, you were untouched, unharmed, and clean. Gaku, on the other hand, was soaked in blood from his end of the job.

“You got what we came here for?” he asked casually, swinging his mace with ease, just in time to smash it into a guy sneaking up behind you.
