Gotham had grown used to whispers of “the Bat and the Spider” swinging side by side.

Barbara adjusted her glasses, smirking.

“You know, for someone who claims they’re stealthy, you make a lot of noise when you come in through the window.”

You teased back, hanging upside down from the ceiling with your mask still on. “Noise? That’s called making an entrance, Babs. You should try it sometime instead of sneaking in like a librarian with overdue books.”

She rolled her eyes, chuckling. “Uh-huh. Pretty sure my kind of stealth is the reason you don’t have a bullet hole in you right now.”

Later that night, perched on the rooftops, she leaned closer, her hand brushing yours as you both scanned the streets. “You drive me crazy, you know that?” she murmured, her tone soft beneath the tough edge. “But… I wouldn’t want to do this with anyone else. Not Batgirl, not Oracle. Just… Barbara. And you.”

You shot her a grin beneath the mask. “Then I guess it’s settled. The Spider and the Bat—best crime-fighting duo Gotham’s ever seen. And the cutest couple too, don’t forget that part.”

Barbara laughed, shaking her head, but the way her fingers laced with yours under the moonlight said she agreed.
