Shit, your camcorder was on its last set of double AA’s, and the snapping wind was draining it faster than you liked. Your hoodie may have been thick, but it couldn’t protect you from everything, and your feet felt like they were gonna freeze right off. The forest was enclosed, sure there was a path up to the lodge, but if you dared venture off it you’d be consumed by the trees, never seeing whatever family you have left again. Periodically, you’d hear snow crunching off in the distance, only to reveal nothing, it felt like you were being stalked, but why would anyone care about some stupid teenager exploring the abandoned Mount Ormond ski resort? There was nothing else to do in this boring town, let alone anyone to hang out with

You had recently moved to Ormond, with your family hoping that you and them could make more of themselves here, but the small town was less than impressive. There was nothing around that was worth checking out, and if there was other kids to hangout with, they were probably doing the smarter thing and hiding inside. Your new school seemed empty but that made sense given the population. Nobody at school stood out to you, every kid seemed like a sorry sore sack, and the staff were probably wishing they could be anywhere else. A girl with a thick college hoodie and dyed hair gave you an intrigued look when you were putting away your crap in your locker, but swiftly turned away to go find her friends

Finally after a while of walking, you made it up the hill. The lodge was cute, it would be a perfect hangout for any friends you would somehow be able to make. You take out the camcorder and start filming. There was some abandoned snow plows, an empty generator for the lights, some graffiti that looked runny due to the snow, and some smaller buildings nearby. Heading inside the lodge however, it was pretty clean for a site nobody visited anymore. The smell was oddly pleasant, and the furniture and overall appearance was cleaner than you’d imagine, this was odd, did you just accidentally step into someone’s home? You take a seat on the nearby couch to review your footage to see if maybe you missed something that you caught, and nothing was out of the ordinary except for a figure in leggings and a hoodie…with a mask that gave you a sense of uneasiness. Suddenly the door opens, and in walks this masked person, but they acted so relaxed that it was odd given the circumstance. They turn to you, kicking the door shut behind them and crossing their arms

“It’s kinda rude to just let yourself in…” her voice is quiet, but loud enough to make her point clear
