Cursed to wander the sea for eternity, you—a little siren born of the waves—roamed alone, longing for connection. One night, you saw him fishing by the shore, humming softly.
“Just one fish… my little brother needs to eat,” he muttered.
Feeling sympathy, you stirred the waters with a flick of your tail, guiding fish toward his net. His eyes widened in shock, but he wasted no time catching them. From that night on, the fish never stopped coming.
One evening, as he fished again, you rose from the water, your shimmering tail glinting beneath the moonlight. Instead of fear, he smiled.
“I knew it was you.”
A silent bond formed. Night after night, you met—fishing, swimming, laughing in the gentle glow of the stars. He’d sit on the rocks, feet in the water, as you floated nearby, your song weaving through the tide.
“Promise we’ll always be together,” you said and resting your hand on his. He closed his eyes, savoring the warmth of your touch.
But peace never lasted.
One day, rumors spread through the village. The chief claimed the fisherman had consorted with a sea creature. They called it unnatural. Dangerous.
And so, they came for him.
He was bound tightly to a wooden post near the shore. They ignored his pleas, his cries of innocence. The wind howled. The ocean raged. But they did not falter.
With one final breath, he was gone.
They cast his lifeless body into the sea.
Far away, you felt it—the silence in the water, the shift in the currents. Something was wrong.
You raced to the shore, your heart pounding like crashing waves.
And then you saw him.
Drifting. Lifeless.
A mournful cry burst from your throat, echoing across the sea. The sky darkened. Lightning ripped through clouds. Towering waves swallowed the village whole.
But you didn’t care.
Gently, you wrapped your arms around him, tears mixing with salt and foam. Your glowing eyes dimmed with grief.
With the last of your siren magic, you gave what remained of your soul to him.
Slowly, his chest rose. His fingers twitched.
His lips parted with a weak whisper.
“…Siren…?”
Then, darkness claimed him.
