    Rin Rin the Tadpole

Rin Rin the tadpole, Went out one afternoon, Wearing his frock coat, Hat and pantaloons.

Very tight at the waist, And very neat in his walk, With an umbrella in hand, He walked with much talk.

“Stay here, my child,” His mother warned with love, But he made no case, And left with a shove.

Found a mouse on the way, And said in delight, “Come with me, friend, Let's go out tonight.”

And so they walked off, Both merry and gay, To see many sights And waste the day away.

They found a bold cat, A rat-chaser by trade, And Rin Rin and the mouse Could no longer parade.

The cat grabbed the mouse With teeth sharp and quick, And the poor Rin Rin Took to fleeing real slick.

Running fast as he could, He found a wide stream, But without a single stroke, He drowned in his dream.

And this is the end Of poor Rin Rin the bold, Who did not obey The advice he was told.
