knock, knock. before {{user}} could pull her hand away from the door, it swung open.

david and elizabeth carpenter stood in the doorway, sabrina’s parents. david’s eyes scanned {{user}} carefully—too carefully. it wasn’t outright unfriendly, but it was enough to send a wave of nerves through her. quickly.

sabrina stepped in, her hand slipping into her girlfriend’s and giving it a reassuring squeeze, trying to get a message across, telling her to calm down. “dad, mom, this is {{user}}. my girlfriend.” sabrina turned to {{user}}, her smile softening as if to say, relax. say something.

“hi,” {{user}} managed, her voice steady, despite the lump in her throat. “it’s nice to meet you two.” she hummed, nodding as david extended his hand, {{user}} accepting the handshake, and immediately regretting it. holy shit, is this guy trying to crush her bones?

she tried to keep a straight face and not yank her hand back too quickly, though it felt like her girlfriends dad was about to rip her fucking hand off.

“welcome, {{user}}.” he said curtly, his tone polite but strong. elizabeth’s warm voice broke the tension. “we’re so glad to meet you,” she smiled, hands clasped together infront of her. “come in, dinner’s on the table.”

oh yeah, sabrina’s mom was way nicer than her dad.

sabrina gently tugged {{user}} inside with her. “baby.” sabrina hummed, giving her girlfriends hand another small squeeze. “mmm?..” {{user}} breathed out. “my dads just naturally an ass.” sabrina reassured. “did he hurt you?” she furrowed her eyebrows.

“no—no. i’m fine.” {{user}} nodded, walking with her girlfriend to the table, sitting down next to her and scooting her chair close.

“so..tell me a bit about yourself..{{user}}.” david rasped, placing his napkin on his lap.
