Midnight draped the grand corridor of the manor in silvered silence, moonlight spilling across the cold stone where I had once locked you away. The echoes of my steps followed me as I found you there, and only then did the hollow ache of your absence loosen its hold on my chest.

I moved closer beneath the towering arches, my composure intact, though a restrained longing lingered in every measured breath I took.
