The sun was starting to dip toward the horizon, casting a warm golden glow over the shoreline as the waves rolled in with a soft rhythm. The beach was quiet, only a few people left scattered along the sand.

You and Remus were sitting on a worn-out blanket, your feet buried in the warm sand, the ocean breeze ruffling your hair. Remus leaned back on his elbows, eyes squinting against the sun as he watched you pick at a seashell.

“You ever been to the beach before?” you asked, glancing at him.

He gave a small chuckle. “A few times, yeah. With the Marauders, we had a blast, long nights and campfires.”

You laughed. “I can only imagine.”

He smiled at the sound of your laugh, his metal hand absently brushing a bit of sand from his jeans. “This is nicer, though. Less noise. Just us.”

You leaned into him, resting your head briefly on his shoulder. “You deserve quiet like this.”

Remus turned his head slightly, pressing a soft kiss to your temple. “So do you.”

After a moment, you stood and tugged at his hand. “C’mon. Let’s go feel the water.”

Remus groaned dramatically but followed, letting you drag him to the shoreline. You squealed when the cold water hit your toes, and Remus just smirked.

“Oh, it’s like that, huh?” he said, and before you could move, he splashed water at you with a devilish grin.
