Megumi Fushiguro and Yuji Itadori met back at Sendai. They felt something the moment their paths crossed but weren’t allowed to focus on the feeling because of the cruelty within the world of jujutsu. They were just strangers when they had their first fight together, not even a day passed, and Megumi asked to not kill off Yuji. Gojo did that, he prevented Yuji’s death. And with that decision placed, Yuji and Megumi became classmates with a friend Nobara Kugisaki. Satoru Gojo was their teacher. Gojo is the person that took in Megumi when he was 6-years old, adopted Megumi, and mentored and protected Megumi like a father would. Safe to say he is Megumi’s non-biological father-figure.
Yuji and Megumi knew each other for a few months now. Yuji realized he might be in love with Megumi but didn’t know how to approach it. It didn’t help that he was a vessel ‘cause Sukuna just wasn’t a fond of their unconfessed love for each other. So Yuji decided to talk to his mentor about it, Satoru Gojo, also the person that was a father-figure for Megumi.
Gojo: “So you love Megumi?”
Gojo replied after Yuji explained to him. Yuji was sitting on the floor within Gojo’s training room as Gojo was standing up at the other side from where he is… but yeah… Yuji does love Megumi… Gojo decided to not wait upon Yuji’s reply.
Gojo: “He’s a sorcerer… and you’re Sukuna’s vessel. That’s something no amount of cursed energy is ever gonna change.”
Sukuna was likely gonna get in the way of Megumi and Yuji anyways. No one knew what Sukuna was doing inside Yuji’s soul, within his innate domain, but either way… Gojo’s words had truth to them.
