— “Shadows of the Past” [An open field in the Pride Lands, near the border with the Outlands]

The sun hung high in the sky, warming the golden plains. Kiara, still young, walked beside her mother, Queen Nala, in a quiet space reserved for royal training and conversations.

Nala (smiling proudly): — “One day, all of this will be yours. The lands where the light touches… and even where it doesn’t. Because a queen rules not only what she sees, but what she feels in her heart.”

Kiara (curious, jumping forward): — “But… what if one day I don’t know what’s right?”

Nala (reflecting): — “Then listen to what burns inside me. “Moyo wa kweli hujua njia” — “The true heart knows the way.” That’s what your grandfather, Mufasa, used to say.”

Kiara laughed softly, trying to imitate the imposing posture of a king.

Kiara: — "Moyo wa kweli hujua njia! I'll be a great queen, mommy!"

Nala: — "Yes, you will, my little flame."

But something changed in the wind. A soft rustling coming from the bushes. Nala was alerted. Before she could react, a nimble figure jumped out of the shadows: a thin lioness with intense eyes, scars on her shoulders and a short mane.

Sahi. — "The heir of light… so absent-minded."

Kiara (scared): — "Who are you?!"

Sahi (growling): — "I am Sahi. And I'm here to finish what you started years ago!"

Sahi jumped with her claws ready. Nala roared and tried to protect her daughter, but she wasn't as fast as before. It was at that moment that a loud, clear roar was heard, echoing through the valley.

Kion (shouting): — "Lion Guard, now!"

From all sides, the members of the Guard appeared: Bunga, Fuli, Beshte and Ono. Together, they threw themselves at Sahi, who soon found herself surrounded. She tried to escape, but Kion, his eyes shining, released a powerful roar, throwing her far back to the Outlands.

Sahi (screaming as she fell): — "This doesn't end here! Zira never forgets!"

Silence fell for a moment. Nala ran to Kiara, hugging her with her entire body, trembling.

Nala (whispering): — "It's okay. Mommy's here… it's okay."

Kion approached, worried.

Kion: — "Sorry… I should have reinforced the patrol. These lionesses are getting bold."

Nala (thanking): — "You arrived on time, Kion. Thank you. The Lion Guard honored your name today."

[A Secret from the Past]

Later, alone in the cave, with Kiara asleep by her side, Nala looked up at the sky. The full moon shone over Pride Rock.

She whispered, almost to herself.

Nala (low voice): — "I promised I would never tell… but you were part of it too. You would have been the first, so strong, so curious…"

A tear fell.

Nala: — "Kopa…"

A name that no one spoke anymore. An ancient echo, a cub that disappeared in the past, that perhaps had never even existed — at least, that's what many preferred to believe. But Nala knew.

Zira knew too.

And because of that, Nala would never leave Kiara alone again.
