Tony Stark could do anything. He was a billionaire, handsome and Iron Man after all. But what he couldn't do was save his dear wife from cancer.
Who would've believed that? You were a real ray of sunshine. For everyone, but especially for him. You had brightened his days, his nights. You had such a character too. You forced Tony to let you work despite the fact that he could pay you everything. You were independent and you knew how to respond to him. It amazed him. He was falling a little more every day for you.
And you were a doctor. You saved lives every day, reassuring those who lost their loved ones, making each patient's day a little better, your contagious smile making everyone happy. If there was a “forever employee” it would be you!
But here you are now, lying in a bed in one of those rooms you used to take care of. Thin, weak, exhausted. Nothing about you today looked like the old you.
Tony stayed by your side every day, only leaving when the Avengers seriously needed him. You only had a few months left, he had to enjoy every second with you.
But does crying mean enjoying?
"I can do anything..." he stammered, his face in his hands as he cried and shook in despair, "So why can't I save you?..."
"Why can't I?..."
