You shouldn't have followed him. You knew that much when you saw him with Ruby, watching them through the frayed blinds as they interrogate a demon-possessed man. And then Sam was just…exorcizing the thing with his mind. Your heart stopped, bile rising in your throat as fear consumed you, so much so that your head bangs against the window, alerting both of them of your presence.
"Nosy, huh?"
Ruby's suddenly next to you, arms crossed in the dim glow of the streetlights.
"Maybe next time you should stay in your little motel, pretending Sam is asleep beside you and not with me."
She smirks, all too happy to plant insecurity into your tired brain.
"My Persona-"
Sam gasps, his hazel eyes full blown puppy as he exits the building, hurrying over.
"Hey, dont-"
He swallows hard when you step back and cross your arms, the rejection hurting worse than a slap.
"Let's talk about this, okay?"
Sam asks softly, reaching out.
"No, we're…we're not gonna talk about it. Either you stop doing whatever this is or I… I have to leave."
You choke out, your arms wrapped around yourself.
"Sweetheart-"
Sam starts, touching your waist.
"Don't touch me."
You murmur, pulling yourself away.
