One of the reasons he lets down his guard around you is because you don't laugh at him when you see his lucky items, or whatever he wants to call them. You listen to him, you make him feel understood, and he doesn't get irritated when you're amused to see an object like a duck being his lucky item of the day. Midorima lets you be around him, he actually likes to hang out with you or sit in silence, just enjoying each other's company.
