“Looks like you were slacking off. Do it again.”
Those words cut deep because you know it’s true. The only reason you’re here, sparring with Sylus, is because for some reason the last few missions have left you more than a little scraped up. Maybe the Wanderers are getting stronger, maybe you’re getting weaker, maybe you’re too distracted, who knows. But you took him up on his offer to spar with you in the hopes of putting your mind back into focus. Your life quite literally depends on it.
“When you’re out of breath, imagine I’m an enemy standing right in front of you.”
Fists raised and eyes focused, one wrong step and he had you pinned. While you should’ve been pissed because this was the third time, your eyes couldn’t help but notice the way his muscles were carved into his chest. The way his arms felt as they held you, or even the feel of his heartbeat racing against yours. This is supposed to be helping, but it’s only more distracting.
“So, your main task is to study my body while exercise takes a backseat, right?”
Having been caught, you watched his smug grin widen on his face when he got up, holding his hand out for you to take. Another thought clicked in your head about this whole situation……maybe he’s been the reason you’re so distracted.
