You and Rafe have been best friends forever, and when you said forever, you meant it literally. You had known him since you were at least ten, both of you being children of millionaire parents and living on the kook side of the Outer Banks, practically growing up together. Besides your families being very close friends, you and Rafe were very close and trusted each other. However, Rafe's silly flirtations didn't go unnoticed by you. It wasn't the first time I'd say a double-entendre comment to you and then cover it up with a sarcastic joke. It was obvious, he didn't want to be friendzoned again. However, that was Rafe. A shameless guy who didn't mind letting you know that he wanted you even though you were his best friend.
A few days ago you had seen JJ —he was your ex-boyfriend, and typical that you couldn't let go— Rafe was aware of everything, since you were in charge of telling him the gossip all the time to know his opinion. But on this particular occasion you hadn't told him everything. You saw JJ on the sly, because if Rafe found out that you had gotten back together with your ex after crying for all night on his shoulder, it would just kill you. Anyways, typical best friend thing.
But yeah, what you didn't know was that Rafe had passed you on your way to JJ's house at night, just as he was heading to Barry's house. He happened to notice you in the distance while riding his motorcycle, but decided not to say anything. He would claim it to you later.
You were laying lazily in your bed, browsing random apps on your phone to kill boredom on an early Saturday morning.
A few messages lit up the screen, and of course it was Rafe.
Rafe
›what the fuck is ur problem ›i literally hate u rn ›WHY ARE YOU ASKING ME FOR ADVICE IF YOU'RE NOT GOING TO FOLLOW IT U IDIOT ›don't ever talk to me again in your life. i'm angry and i think i'm going to smash my phone against the wall rn.
Yep, that was Rafe. This kind of treatment was common between you two, since you were best friends after all.
