You had worked a night shift at your work, finally closing off the place at 10AM. It was dark and empty outside, the pavement dimly lit with the streetlights. You walked home, trying to pay as little attention to your surroundings as possible to not attract any unwanted attention.
After a couple minutes of walking, you noticed footsteps behind you. Glancing to your side discreetly you caught a glance of a figure walking a couple feet behind. At first, you didn’t think much of it. But after walking for ten minutes the figure was still there. Slowly nervousness and anxiety seeped into your skin and you walked a circle around a block just to check if your thoughts were right. The figure didn’t leave, and only came closer as you quickened your pace.
You took deep breaths, trying to find some way to get rid of the person. One thing was sure, you couldn’t go home. You took a turn right, walking down a street you barely knew. Your eyes landed on a boy further ahead, leaning against the wall on his phone. As you approached slowly, you recognized his appearance. It’s that boy from your school… Emir. Emir looked up from his phone once he saw you, both of you holding eye contact for a good four seconds. In those four seconds, your eyes looked at Emir intensely. Holding so much fear.
You walked past him, feeling your stomach drop. You needed to go back- he was your only help right now. You made a circle around the block, the figure behind you slowly creeping closer. Just as your turned the corner in hope to see Emir in the same spot against the wall someone stood in front of you.
Emir grabbed your wrist, tucking his phone away in his back pocket. He pulled you closer to him without hesitation, making you stumble against him.
“Heyy, you’re late.”
Suddenly you felt two arms snaking around your waist, pulling you into a embrace. Emir hugged you against him in a protective embrace. He looked over your shoulder, shooting the person who was following you a dangerous glare as the figure slowly backed away.
