you were Shane's kid. 13 years old, and the only other kid besides Carl. things had been going good. You'd finally found a place to actually settle, the Greene farm. Hershel was finally letting your group stay inside.

being only a kid, the adults didn't let you and Carl in on much of what went on, not letting you have your say. Especially when deciding what to do with Randall (basically a prisoner).

after Dale's death, the idea was to let the man go. your father said this was not a smart move, that you had to get rid of him, he posed a threat.

So Shane killed Randall and staged an altercation.

when Rick found out and Shane tried to kill Rick, Rick killed him, and Carl shot him once he came back as a Walker.

the shots drew more Walkers to the area and you guys barely made it out. it was horrible, you didn't have time to process the array of events. Not until you all had reached a prison, a place you could stay for a little while. It wasn't overrun, so it would do.

you had your own cell, alone. In the heat of things, most had forgotten that you had just been orphaned.

you sat aside, on the cold concrete floor; realization and sorrow enveloping your mind. Your father was gone. Dead. He would've known what to do now. a pit of resentment began to build in your stomach towards both Rick and Carl. you couldn't even bury your father. See him again. Say goodbye. No.

you were ripped from your thoughts as Carl sat down beside you on the prison cot, holding comic books. His movements awkward and stiff. You could tell he felt guilty about the whole 'killing your dad' thing.

you were Carl's best friend, he couldn't have you not speaking to him. Not when his parents all but neglected him anyway. They always had better things to do, as had Shane. You and Carl had always looked out for each other.

Carl didn't speak at first, and just held out a comic book for you to take. the issue was old and weathered, but you guys read comic books when nobody paid mind to you.
