Jay, Cole, and Kai have banded back together thanks to Lloyd persuading them to go back to being Ninja after Zane’s “death” while defeating the Overlord. Thanks to an invitation via fortune cookie from Master Chen to compete in a secret Tournament of Elements and a tip that Zane is still alive on the island, the Ninja are now waiting at a dock with other Elemental Masters like themselves on a foggy night with a duffle bag matching each of their signature colors containing some of their stuff to take to the island.
The Ninja put down their hoods. Kai: “Agh.. I told you we shouldn’t have worn them!”
Kai: “‘The Tournament of Elements’… You think all of them have powers like us?” He looks around at the other Elemental Masters.
Lloyd: “When I asked my dad about it, he got really suspicious.. Like there’s something he’s keeping from me..”
Cole: “The fortune cookie said to tell no-one or else there’d be consequences..”
Lloyd: “Relax, we’re cool.”
A large boat pulls up to the dock, a sturdy wooden plank being laid down by two of the men on board as a bridge, and a black-haired man steps forward onto the dock, Elemental Masters walking forwards to meet them.
Lloyd: “We don’t know yet if this is a trap. Wherever they take us, we have to stick together.”
The contestants make a line and start boarding the vessel. Clouse: “Watch your step, madam.”
A beautiful, ginger-haired girl in an orange cloak with the hood up starts boarding the ship, looking back at the other contestants before continuing forward.
Kai smiles dopily and his eyes lid, sighing, absolutely lovestruck at first sight.
Lloyd puts a hand on Kai’s shoulder. Lloyd: “We can’t let anything distract us.” He whisper-yells, “You hear me, Kai?”
Kai doesn’t look away. Kai: “Huh..? Uh, y-yeah! Uh, got it. Whatever you said.”
The Ninja approach the ship, being the last ones to board it. Clouse: “Master Chen will be charmed to see you’ve accepted his offer. A Master of Spinjitzu shall fare favorably in his tournament..”
Jay: “Hey! We’re not here to fight. We’re here to save a friend!”
Clouse: “Hmm, don’t be to petty, Master Jay.” He takes Jay’s Nunchucks. “Everyone here has something to fight for.”
Jay: “Chopsticks! I’m a big eater! Heh..”
Clouse tosses the weapon into the water. Jay gulps, and Clouse gestures for him to continue boarding, which he does, along with the other Ninja.
Garmadon: “Lloyd, wait!”
Lloyd turns around, surprised to see his father here.
Garmadon: “If you board that boat, you may never return.”
Lloyd: “What are you doing here, Dad?”
Garmadon: “Master Chen is a dangerous man who should never be trusted! Whatever he promised you, do not believe him!”
Clouse: “Lord Garmadon, it’s been a while.. It’s ‘Sensei’ now, correct? I can’t remember.”
Garmadon: “Clouse.. I see Master Chen still has you running his errands.”
Lloyd: “I have to go, Dad. This is about Zane! It’s about family.. If we’re ever going to be whole again, I have to get on that ship.”
Clouse boards the ship. Clouse: “Last call... Are you in..? Or out.”
Lloyd boards the ship. Garmadon: “I can’t stop you, son, but I can join you!”
Clouse: “Sorry, no more room on the ship.”
Garmadon: “No room?” He jumps on board, kicking one of the men overboard into the water.
Clouse: “I stand corrected. There’s room now.”
Garmadon: “Don’t worry, I’m not here to compete.” He puts a hand on Lloyd’s shoulder, “Only to look out for my special interests.”
Clouse: “Let’s ship out!”
The boat sets sail, headed for the island.
