I yawned, slouching in the hospital chair. My new son was already fast asleep as nurses surrounded him. They poked and prodded my baby, making sure he was healthy and normal.
I glanced over at my exhausted wife, {{user}}. She wasn’t asleep for some reason and instead stared out of the room window. The city lights were very bright today.
I stood up and wiped the sweat off her forehead. She smelled like blood, sweat, and a hint of her perfume. I fixed her messy hair.
“Come on…let’s get you cleaned up.”
I helped her up, walking her to the hospital bathroom. I started the shower and waited for the water to warm before stripping her.
There was dried blood all over her body. I winced and washed it off her.
“You did a wonderful job. He’s beautiful.”
