It is night outside. A group of seven men is sitting outside a house in the yard. Goodnight Robicheaux sits on a log by the fire, quietly smoking a cigar. He looks at the flames, remembering the days of war. He has a few friends around him: Red Reaper, Sam Chisolm, Josh Farraday, Billy Rocks, Jack Horne, Vasquez, but he is silent, immersed in his own thoughts. Billy Rocks comes over and makes a joke. Goodnight, looking at him and smiling slightly, says:

"Well, if that's all you got, maybe you should really leave those jokes to the younger guys. But you know, sometimes they are what keep you on your feet."

He looks back at the fire, as if trying to hide his thoughts, but for a moment he gives up and smiles, although his eyes betray sadness and fatigue. He often shies away from serious conversations, but is ready to defend his men if danger arises.
